Foreword from the Director
Message from the Director of the Education Procurement Service and Head of Sourcing (Education)
As we approach the end of 2025, it is an ideal moment to reflect on the progress we have made together and to look ahead to a year that promises significant developments for the education sector and the wider public procurement landscape. The past twelve months have demonstrated the strength of collaboration across institutions, suppliers, and stakeholders, and I am proud of the role our teams have played in supporting high‑quality, value‑driven procurement for education.
Looking forward, 2026 will be a pivotal year. Ireland’s upcoming EU Presidency presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of European policy, including areas that directly influence procurement practice, sustainability, and digital transformation. We anticipate active engagement with our European counterparts as we work to ensure that the needs of the education sector are well represented in these discussions.
A key change on the horizon is the introduction of the updated EU Procurement Thresholds, which will take effect on 1 January 2026. These revised thresholds will shape how contracting authorities plan and conduct competitions in the year ahead. Our team will continue to provide clear guidance, training, and support to ensure a smooth transition and to help institutions remain fully compliant while maximising opportunities for innovation and value.
This year also saw the successful delivery of the Government Supply Expo 2025, a standout event that brought together suppliers, public bodies, and sector experts. The Expo highlighted the growing importance of strategic sourcing, supplier engagement, and sustainable procurement. It was encouraging to see such strong participation from the education community, and we look forward to building on this momentum in the year ahead.
I would like to express our sincere appreciation to all stakeholders for your engagement and collaboration throughout 2025. Your support has been instrumental in advancing our shared objectives and delivering value for the public sector.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Enjoy the festive break, and we look forward to continuing our work together in 2026.
