A New Chapter for Ireland’s Digital Education Infrastructure

Effective 31 December 2025, HEAnet and EduCampus officially combined to create Asiera—Advancing Services for Irish Education, Research and Academia. This new identity reflects a strong, shared ambition to connect, enable, and empower learners and institutions as Ireland continues its digital transformation journey. [heanet.ie]

For EPS, Ireland’s national procurement service for education, this development represents an exciting step forward. As long‑standing collaborators with both HEAnet and EduCampus, we welcome the creation of a more integrated digital ecosystem that aligns with our mission to deliver value, efficiency, and innovation through strategic procurement.

Enabling Over 1.5 Million People Across Ireland

Asiera now brings together the collective strengths of two organisations that have consistently underpinned Ireland’s education and research infrastructure. Their combined network and services support:

  • More than 1.3 million students and researchers, and
  • Over 175,000 staff across schools, ETBs, and higher‑education institutions—
amounting to over 1.5 million people nationwide. [heanet.ie]

This scale of impact aligns closely with EPS’s own commitment to serving the sector through transparent frameworks, robust competition, and the delivery of high‑quality services to institutions of all sizes.

Driving Digital Excellence Through Collaboration

The formation of Asiera creates a streamlined organisation offering:

  • High‑speed connectivity for education and research
  • ICT shared services spanning administrative, teaching, learning, and research functions
  • Enhanced access to world‑class technologies for institutions nationwide

From the EPS perspective, this consolidation offers new opportunities to strengthen the connection between procurement excellence and digital service delivery, supporting the long‑term strategic needs of the sector. We look forward to deepening collaborative efforts that help institutions leverage procurement frameworks efficiently as they adopt and integrate Asiera‑led solutions.

Supporting a Shared Vision for the Future

EPS is encouraged by Asiera’s ambition to build a truly end‑to‑end digital ecosystem for education in Ireland. This vision mirrors our own goals of ensuring institutions have access to best‑value solutions, delivered responsibly and sustainably, while supporting continuous improvement across the education system.

Asiera’s launch at the 2025 HEAnet Conference signifies not just a rebrand, but a renewed commitment to the sector—one that EPS is proud to support through continued partnership and procurement leadership.

Looking Ahead

The coming years promise further transformation as Asiera expands its service offering and continues its integration journey. EPS will continue to work alongside our colleagues across the sector to ensure institutions are equipped with the digital capabilities and procurement supports they need to thrive.

We congratulate the Asiera team on this milestone and look forward to collaborating to advance Ireland’s education and research landscape.
